100 Year Anniversary...

I was given the opportunity to photograph the 100 Year Anniversary of Hotel Utah which is now the Joseph Smith Memorial Building. It was special for me because the first presidency of the LDS church was there along with many other leaders and great people. My main assignment was to photograph the staging of the event which was incredibly gorgeous. The guests were invited to dress early-20th century if they'd like. It was a really neat event.

This family was so great! It was probably the coldest weather I've ever shot a family in and they were awesome. I loved that they dressed for the season...coats, fur, scarves--all very fun in pictures. The teeny baby slept the whole time in his warm little outfit. And the two older kids were troopers. LOVE this family. It really is a treat every time I get to see them. People just don't come better than this. :) I was curious to see how the little man would do this year because last year he was not happy about getting family pictures done. Well this year was a different story. He was following me around doing what I asked him to, giving hugs, we were laughing and skipping....we're total bff's now. And he already loves his baby sister who's growing in mom's tum. Here is a little preview....this first one's a tear jerker. I know, I'm a boob.

I love getting to do photos for friends and family. These are our awesome friends the Jankes. Mommy is amazing in every way. Daddy is pretty cool too. :) And I adore these kids. Big brother, holy cow, he could have had his picture taken all day. I don't think he ever broke a smile! And sister got burnt out in the end, (don't worry you'll love the camera when you're older :)) but she was great long enough so I can't ask for more! And this is a great job on outfits, I love their style! You guys are awesome, here's a sneak peak of the pics...

Here are the Kesslers! This was such a fun shoot. Loved the light, the location, the outfits, the faces! It's more challenging doing big families, but there's something really profound about being able to see all those faces you've created together with you and your spouse from an outsiders point of view. I think it makes you feel such overwhelming love for your family to see that. Ahh, get family pictures people, it's wonderful. Also, people ask me if I change eye color in photoshop and the answer is no. These kids have gorgeous blue eyes (sister has beautiful auburn) and in the right sunlight (and some overall color boost in PS) the color is awesome! Here's the lovely fam...
